Last night, Green Cathedral played as the final act of “Darker Vibes” Night at Warehouse3 in Swarthmore, PA, a really cool and unconventional venue. Antique shop by day, arts and music venue by night, it was a really nice alternative to the standard music club. Also on the bill was VennTronix, Robert Bushinsky, and Terminal. Robert was on tour from Boston and was the one who organized the show.
The gig had a lot going against it early on – our drummer, Tom, couldn’t make the show due to unavoidable circumstances, and we had to bring in a session drummer (Hoagy Wing) to help us out. He only got to rehearse our songs twice before the show. He was a real pro and helped us all out. We would not have been able to do the gig without him. In addition, the weather was terrible – we had wildfire smoke from Canada creating unhealthy air conditions outside; there was a forecasted storm that had the potential to bring flash flooding, tornados, and hail; and in general it was hot and super muggy.
Luckily the tornadoes and hail held off (at least in our area), and the show was able to go on. The club itself was hidden down an alley so I ended up wandering around Swarthmore for a bit before I could finally find it.
Green Cathedral went on last and although our sound was a bit differnet than normal due to a new drummer, we had a lot of fun and really liked the venue and the other acts on the bill were all nice to hang out with. I heard the venue owner really dug us and I hope that means we can come back to play again at some point.
Below are some pictures from the show. I am still sourcing some video to see if we have anything usable to post on youtube. Stay tuned!
